I am a vegetarian, and I love food. I also hate tofu and most soy products. They taste weird to me. Even disguised in recipes, I can still taste that strange sweet/chalky taste. Also, I swear that too much soy makes me really emotional. I’ve heard it mimics estrogen, or something like that. I have no idea if its true – but I definitely notice a difference when I’ve had too much. And as far as I am concerned, I don’t need to consume something that messes with body chemistry so drastically.

Also, I became a vegetarian because I don’t want animals to die for me to eat. But I am not like other vegetarians/vegans in that I am going to pretend that I don’t miss the taste of certain dishes, or that I think its “wrong to mimic meat because it perpetuates the want to eat it in others”. That is silly. I will have dishes on here that may resemble meat in taste and appearance. But they’re not. That’s the point.

And one more thing: this is about food. This is not a commentary about animal rights. I don’t care why you are a vegetarian, or why you are vegan vs. vegetarian, or so on and so forth. Everyone has their reasons, one way or another. This is a judgement-free zone.

    Great-looking blog! Can’t wait to see some yummy recipes! I have some I can post here or email you if you like, I’m no veggie but they are most certainly meat-free 🙂

      Tofu reminds me of mattress stuffing. I can tolerate low-sodium soy sauce in limited quantities.
